Basics of French Roulette
- Understanding the Table: French Roulette is played on a table with a wheel containing numbers 1 through 36, plus a single zero (0). The numbers are alternately colored in red and black, except for the zero which is typically green.
- Placing Bets: Before the wheel is spun, players place bets on a specially designed betting area on the table. There are two main types of bets:
- Inside Bets: Placed on specific numbers or small groups of numbers. Examples include betting on a single number (straight bet), two adjacent numbers (split bet), or a row of three numbers (street bet).
- Outside Bets: Placed on larger groups of numbers, such as even/odd numbers, red/black, or high/low (1-18 or 19-36). These bets offer lower payouts but higher odds of winning.
- Special French Bets: French Roulette includes specific bets that are named in French and cover certain sections of the wheel. These include:
- Voisins du Zéro: A bet covering the numbers next to zero on the wheel, from 22 to 25.
- Tiers du Cylindre: A bet covering one-third of the wheel opposite to zero, between numbers 27 and 33.
- Orphelins: A bet covering the remaining numbers not covered by the above two bets.
- Neighbors: A bet on a single number and the two numbers on each side of it on the wheel.
- Dealer’s Role: In live French Roulette, a live dealer spins the wheel and handles the bets. The dealer announces when betting is open and closed for each round.
- Wheel Spin and Outcome: Once all bets are placed, the dealer spins the wheel in one direction and then spins a small ball in the opposite direction around the edge of the wheel. The ball eventually lands in one of the numbered pockets on the wheel.
- Payouts: Winning bets are paid out based on the type of bet placed and the odds associated with it. The dealer will announce the winning number and color, and then distribute chips to winning players.
- Repeat or Change Bets: After each round, you have the option to place new bets for the next spin or to repeat your previous bets using a “Rebet” button.
Additional Tips:
- House Edge: French Roulette typically offers better odds compared to American Roulette (which has a double zero), making it more favorable for players.
- Etiquette: Follow standard casino etiquette when playing live, such as not touching your chips once bets are placed and being respectful to the dealer and other players.
Remember that exact rules may vary depending on the casino or the variant of the game you’re playing. It’s important to know the specific rules before you start playing. Have fun!
